The Tasting

We had our tasting on Monday at Marcello's Father and Son Restaurant. It was an awesome experience! First of all, who doesn't love trying 12 different foods for one meal? And on top of that, the food was great. Michael of Marcello's was great to work with as well, and he really helped us decide between a few tough calls. The food should be delicious and there should be something for everyone, so Shareef and I hope you bring appetites!

150 days away!

The wedding countdown is at 150 days today, and that got us both pretty excited. It also reminded us of everything we have to do still! Wedding planning is a lot of work, but it's looking like the wedding is going to be a lot of fun. Can't wait to see you all there!

Tuxedos

This past week, we picked out the tuxedos for Shareef and his groomsmen. They'll all sport the "Black" tuxedo by Vera Wang. It's a classic tuxedo look, with less-emphasized satin. We're really happy with the way it looks and think all the men are going to look very sharp!

Hotel Information

If you will be staying in Chicago overnight, we have reserved 20 rooms at the Palmer House Hilton (Hotel Website) in downtown Chicago. The special rate of $99.00 a night for up to 2 people is available if you mention the de Jong-Amer wedding. The number to reach the hotel is 1-877-865-5321. New Date and January Update

So Kallie and I had a very busy winter break. We both went to Chicago to try to lock down our location. Unfortunately the Chicago Park District closed from December 22 until January 3, so we couldn't get much done during that time. However, we filed our application on January 3rd and got our date! December 29, 2012 is our new wedding day and we couldn't be happier. It's a Saturday, so people coming from out of town (virtually everyone) will find an easier time attending.

We will have our wedding in the Solarium at the South Shore Cultural Center. It's actually the same room that Barack and Michelle Obama got married, so that's pretty cool. The room is already decorated blue and yellow, so we won't have to do too much to it.

Also, Imam Senad Agic, the Imam I grew up learning from, will be our officiant. He said he would be honored to do so, because he's known me for basically my whole life, but really I feel like I am the lucky one. I am very glad he'll be there to start Kallie and my marriage off right., God willing.
